Under Gramin Dak Sevak Recruitment, India Post offers 3 various designations.
- BPM – Branch Postmaster
The Job Profile of Branch Post Master will include managing affairs of Branch Post Office, India Posts Payments Bank (IPPB), and ensuring uninterrupted counter operation during the prescribed working hours using the handheld device/Smartphone/laptop supplied by the Department.
- ABPM – Assistant Branch Postmaster
The Job Profile of Assistant Branch Post Master will include all functions of sale of stamps/stationery, conveyance and delivery of mail at doorstep deposits/payments/other transactions under IPPB, assisting Branch Postmasters in counter duties using the handheld device/Smartphone supplied by the Department.
- Dak Sevak
The Job Profile of Dak Sevaks will include all functions of viz sale of stamps and stationery, conveyance and delivery of mail, and any other duties assigned by Postmaster/Sub Postmaster including IPPB work in the Departmental Post Offices/RMS.
Educational Qualifications: Candidates having passed Class 10 (Secondary/ Matric/ SSC) are considered qualified. Along with that, a candidate must know how to operate a computer and be able to use a cycle. Also, candidates should have knowledge of local languages.
Gramin Dak Sevak Selection Process
The selection of the candidates will be done through the automatically generated Merit List based on the total applications submitted. If contestants get the same marks in the 10th exam, then the merit order would be as per DOB (higher age as merit).
The department doesn’t organize any written examination or interview for the selection of candidates for GDS Recruitment. The India Post GDS Selection List will be prepared on basis of the candidate’s academic merit secured in the 10th Standard Exam.

The applicants who have submitted an online application for India GDS Recruitment can check GDS Result online on the official portal appost.in/gdsonline. A state-wise merit list for GDS Selection is published by the Department in a pdf file. The candidates can download the GDS Merit List pdf and check their name is enlisted or not. If your name is enlisted in the list, you have been selected for the GDS posts.

You will receive a call letter for the joining and you will need to report to the nearest Head Post Office your area.
