Indian Army Physical Test Details 2021 – Marks for the Events

Candidates appearing for the Indian rally recruitment goes through a Physical Fitness Test (PFT) as the first phase. There are 100 marks fixed for the Indian Army Physical Test which consists of various events such as the race (run), push-ups, long jump, etc.

In 2016, the Govt of India and the Indian Army hinted that they might conduct the written test before the physical test for the recruitment rallies. So far, this change hasn’t been introduced in the selection procedure for Soldiers.

Candidates in the recruitment rally are first called for the physical proficiency test. In which candidates have to complete the 1.6 km race in 5 minutes 30 seconds. The successful candidates also have to go through balancing, 10 pullups and 9 feet long jump.

The candidates who join the recruitment rally have to go through a Physical Fitness Test (PFT) for which 100 marks have been fixed. Here is the breakdown of the marks for these tasks…

Marks for Race

1600 Meters Race (Run)
Timing Marks
5 Minutes 30 Seconds 60
5 Min 31 Sec to 45 Sec 48
5 Minutes 46 Seconds or more Fail

Candidates who complete the 1.6 km race in 5 minutes 30 seconds (Excellent Time). They are awarded 60 points for their excellence. On the other hand, 48 marks are given to youngsters who complete the race from 5 minutes 31 seconds to 5 minutes 45 seconds. Also, those who complete the race after 5 minutes 45 seconds are considered to have failed.

Balancing and Long Jump

Balancing has qualifying nature in recruitment rallies. No points will be given for it but you must have passed this event. Also, if you succeed in a 9 feet long jump, you will not get any points. However, it needs to be successful too.
